Mia Thornton is leaving The Real Housewives of Potomac after four seasons. She posted on Instagram on Monday that she would be leaving the Bravo show and would not return for the upcoming tenth season.

“With every new season comes a new beginning and I have some news to share. My family and I have made the decision to relocate to Atlanta, and with that, I will not be returning to The Real Housewives of Potomac next season,” Mia wrote on her social media.

She joined RHOP in season 6 and last appeared in season 9, which aired earlier this year. Her time on the reality show had been tumultuous, with the audience following her health scare, her marital woes with husband Gordon Thornton and concerns that about the paternity of her children.

" To my castmates: thank you for the laughs, the lessons, and the unforgettable moments. And to the amazing fans, your love and support has meant everything to me. I’ll always carry that with me."

She added a note about life after Bravo in her social media message, note her upcoming move to Atlanta. “This next chapter is already full of exciting opportunities, and I can’t wait to take you all along for the ride. Big things are coming… ‘I don’t just make headlines — I make History. Atlanta, brace yourself. The empire has expanded. #LegacyInTheMaking.”

Why Is Mia Leaving The Real Housewives Of Potomac

Mia Thornton appears to have left Potomac behind and has recently moved to Atlanta. In an Instagram post of her family from earlier this month, she tagged her location as 'ATL' and wrote in the caption: “And she created her P E A C E. We LOVE it here.”

The social media post came only a few months after Gizelle accused her of living in Atlanta during the reunion. “Inc lives in Atlanta… Mia lives in Atlanta. She does not live in D.C., Maryland, or Virginia.” At the time, Mia denied the move and revealed she still had a condo in the D.C area, although Gizelle was sceptical.

Mia had a tumultuous season of The Real Housewives of Potomac, which saw her storm off set during the reunion.

She became enraged after co-star Gizelle Bryant called her a “terrible mother.” It came after Mia questioned if her on/off boyfriend Inc was the biological father to her youngest son. While the DNA test proved Jeremiah was Gordon’s son, her castmates felt the story should not have played out on screen.

She also tried to leave set after Stacey Rusch refused to accept Mia’s apology for ditching her during an off-camera trip to Miami. "I've been a terrible friend and I know that," Mia said. "If I wasn't in the final weeks of my divorce, I probably wouldn't be this emotional."

What Do We Know About Season 10 Of Real Housewives of Potomac

The cast of the upcoming season 10 of The Real Housewives of Potomac has yet to be announced. It’s unlikely that we will see Karen Huger return as she is currently in jail, charged with a DUI and DWI.

In December 2024, the self-proclaimed grand dame was found guilty on nearly all charges after her car crashed in March 2024. There were rumors that the show would delay filming, but Dr. Wendy called it out on Instagram as a lie.

The first nine seasons of The Real Housewives of Potomac are currently streaming on Peacock.
