Fans were already disappointed to learn that Summer House's Paige DeSorbo said she would "never" sign on to be the next Bachelorette following her breakup from Craig Conover, but now they have something new to be let down by: a break before they get to see another season of The Bachelorette.
ABC usually airs a season of The Bachelorette during the summer but a source close to the network has claimed that there likely won't be a season airing in 2025.
Why isn't The Bachelorette airing in 2025?
Although Deadline has reported that ABC is definitely going to be skipping the 2025 season of The Bachelorette, ABC hasn't made any announcements themselves about the upcoming season of the reality dating show yet.
Deadline stated that while The Bachelorette is taking their 2025 season off, the show will likely return in the future and is most likely not cancelled. Taking a season off isn't out of the ordinary in the Bachelor Nation universe. After The Bachelorette premiered in 2003, it skipped seasons in 2006 and 2007 and returned in 2008 to air every year since then.
Similarly, Bachelor Nation's schedule was thrown off more recently in 2024 when ABC chose to go without a season of Bachelor in Paradise and chose to air a season of The Golden Bachelorette instead.
This news comes only two weeks into Grant Ellis' current season of The Bachelor and since The Bachelorette usually picks a new Bachelorette from a previous season of The Bachelor, ABC may still be in the middle of casting one of the women that Grant Ellis didn't choose on his own season and still needs time to pull together the next season of The Bachelorette, but the network hasn't confirmed their reasoning yet.
Bachelor in Paradise returns in 2025 instead
Instead of airing a season of The Bachelorette in 2025, ABC has announced that they will instead be airing a new season of Bachelor in Paradise. ABC has yet to share when the new season will be premiering, but it will be sometime in the summer of 2025 and will be available to stream on Hulu the day after the episode airs, similarly to other Bachelor Nation shows.
Bachelor in Paradise stared airing in 2014 and last aired a season in 2023, making 2024 the second time this series has taken a season off from airing. The show takes previous contestants from The Bachelor and The Bachelorette to a tropical location where they mingle and try to find love with each other.
Some fans have speculated that ABC is changing their Bachelor Nation schedule to air Bachelor in Paradise in the summer instead of The Bachelorette in order to attempt to compete with the American version of Love Island since it airs in the summer. Love Island is scheduled to premiere its 7th season sometime in 2025 with Vanderpump Rules alum Ariana Madix hosting .
