The drama on TLC's Sister Wives is heating up as Meri Brown has confirmed that there's no "trust" between any of the family members over the land at Coyote Pass. Now that three of Kody Brown's wives have chosen to leave their plural marriage, the debate about how to divide up the plot of land and sell the property has been a hot topic of drama and discourse on the show, but things have only gotten more dramatic.
Meri Brown says she hired a lawyer to help her deal with the Coyote Pass sale
On a previous episode of Sister Wives, ex-wife Janelle Brown warned Meri Brown to "protect" herself when it came to the land at Coyote Pass because she believed that Kody and Robyn Brown didn't have Meri's best interest in mind. Although Meri was skeptical of the warning at that time, it looks like she's since come around and realized she needs to look out for herself.
In the latest episode of Sister Wives, Meri Brown shared that she hired a lawyer in order to help her handle the division and sale of the land. Considering the fact that Kody Brown previously said that he had thought about "screwing" Janelle over on the sale, it's safe to say that Meri made a good choice hiring legal counsel.
During the January 26 episode of Sister Wives, Meri and Janelle had a conversation about Coyote Pass and during a confessional segment, Meri shared her plans to hire a lawyer in order to help her navigate the sale. According to Meri, the decision came after she thought about how Kody had been behaving the past several years.
"There's been a lot of confusion surrounding the way things have been done in the family, the way that Kody is with me and has been with me for many, many years. So I think that's why I'm going to get a lawyer to help me through this process," Meri Brown shared during a confessional interview during the episode.
Janelle confirmed during her conversation that she has also hired a lawyer, citing the fact that she believed Kody would "drag his feet" through the process if there wasn't a reason for him to take care of things faster.
In a confessional segment, Janelle Brown commented on her own decision to get a lawyer and said, "I'm so, so glad Meri understands it's wise to have a lawyer because we're not family anymore. I mean, this is people now trying to dissolve a business that went bad, basically."
"None of us trust each other": None of the Sister Wives exes are on speaking terms
Janelle was definitely correct when she said that the Browns are no longer a family and in the January 26 episode, Meri made it very clear that she feels the same way. According to her, she put her foot down when Kody was trying to make up a plan on how to handle the sale of the Coyote Pass property and said that he's no longer the head of her family, so he doesn't have a say in that anymore.
She went on to say that she believes that Kody and his last remaining wife, Robyn Brown, likely have thoughts on how they want to handle the sale of the Coyote Pass property, but that there's not enough trust among Kody, his current wife, and his exes for anyone to discuss their thoughts on the process.
During a confessional segment during the episode, Meri opened up about the fact that everyone in the family has their own agenda when it comes to the sale of the Coyote Pass property and said, "I feel like Kody and Robyn probably have some plan of what they want to do, and how they want to handle it. I think that Janelle has some sort of plan, and I know that I do as well. And none of us are talking to each other because none of us trust each other."
The property is currently divided up between Kody and Robyn and two of Kody's former wives, Janelle and Meri. Christine, Kody's third ex-wife, was the first to leave the plural marriage in 2021 and sold her portion of the Coyote Pass property back to Kody and Robyn a year after she left the marriage.
Despite having sold her portion back to Kody and having entirely separated herself from the Brown family, Christine shared in a previous episode of Sister Wives that she doesn't exactly trust Kody to handle things fairly either.
Sister Wives airs every Sunday on TLC at 10 p.m. ET/7 p.m. PT.
