Bravo recently announced that Vanderpump Rules was going to be getting a full reboot with a brand new cast. Because the cast has become so fractured over the years and the show has strayed so far from where it started, with SURvers and bartenders at Lisa Vanderpump's restaurant, this choice wasn't particularly surprising to fans.
Now, Lisa Vanderpump has shared an update on the casting of the reboot and said that fans of the original seasons of Vanderpump Rules have a lot to be excited for as she says that the "new and refreshing" cast will be taking the show back to its roots.
What did Lisa Vanderpump say about the new Vanderpump Rules cast?
Lisa Vanderpump spoke to PEOPLE at the launch of her newest restaurant and spoke about what's in store for the reboot and the brand new cast of the show.
According to Lisa Vanderpump, fans should always "expect the unexpected" because putting a bunch of people together with their own -- sometimes clashing -- personalities in a location like a restaurant where they all work as servers and bartenders, things can get complicated, as the first seasons of Vanderpump Rules with the original cast showed before they slowly drifted away from working at SUR to have their own careers as reality stars and influencers.
"I think we're going back to the grassroots and a different set of people is kind of new and refreshing," Lisa Vanderpump said and went on to say that she wasn't trying to discredit the original cast and says that she sees the foundation that the original cast built up for 11 seasons of Vanderpump Rules and can see how far they've come as reality TV stars in their own right.
Lisa Vanderpump says Vanderpump Rules already has a new cast for season 12
In a December 10 interview with Entertainment Tonight, Lisa Vanderpump shared a major update: she already has a group of SURvers and bartenders to be in the reboot.
While she said that she has a pretty solid group of employees working at her restaurant, Lisa Vanderpump still admitted that there could be changes to the cast before it's officially annouced. She told the publication, "But there's always room for people because it's West Hollywood. It's always people coming through the door [asking], 'Can I have a job?'"
When it comes to the people coming to SUR looking for a job, though, she said that she knows those people aren't actually there to work in the restaurant industry and that they're primarily there trying to get cast on the show.
Since the reboot happened in order to get the show back to its roots and focus on a group of SUR employees, it doesn't seem like people who are just looking for an opportunity to get on TV without taking their work at the restaurant seriously are going to be the SURvers that end up picked for the show.
Only time will tell who will be cast in the show as Bravo has yet to announce a cast or premiere date, but since the news of the reboot is so new, it'll likely be a while before Bravo fans are given more information.
