In the two years since Tom Sandoval's cheating scandal, dubbed Scandoval, became public, a lot has changed in the world of Vanderpump Rules. Rachel (Raquel) Leviss left the show, started a podcast to tell her side of the story, and then chose to step back away from Hollywood; Ariana Madix went to Broadway and hosted Love Island; the entire original VPR cast was fired in favor of a reboot; and Tom Sandoval has tried to move his career past being "the Scandoval guy" with a stint on The Traitors.
Is it time to finally forgive Tom Sandoval? It's a complicated question.
For some fans, the answer is an immediate and resounding no. Tom Sandoval not only had an affair, but he had an affair with a co-star in his and Ariana Madix's shared home and then the pair lied about the timeline and details.
It's especially easy to hold this against him when Ariana Madix's career has gone on to thrive with red carpet and reality TV hosting gigs and a Broadway role. Starting with her "revenge dress" at the reunion, she's taken this personal betrayal and used it as a springboard for her career with people cheering her on and supporting her almost out of spite toward her ex.
Meanwhile, Tom Sandoval's appearance on The Traitors has been less kind to him. From his sweat stained t-shirt to his desperation to be taken seriously in the game, he's more the pitiful comic relief of the cast than someone to root for in earnest.
It's his role on The Traitors that has other fans saying that yes, it's time to let go of Scandoval and let Tom Sandoval move on from it already. There are some people coming into The Traitors completely blind to Vanderpump Rules and Tom Sandoval's history, so this is the only Tom Sandoval they know and to them, his sordid affair with Rachel Leviss is totally irrelevant.
He may not be good at The Traitors but he's good TV and that matters more to people than knowing the details of his affair or the way he and Ariana Madix spent so long battling over their shared house in the aftermath of their breakup.
But for the first group of people that think he's not so deserving of forgiveness yet, the fact that he's bumbling his way through the castle on The Traitors is made even funnier because they already didn't like him.
So, with Vanderpump Rules as we knew it over with the reboot coming and all three parts of the Scandoval affair moving on with their respective lives, is it time to forgive Tom Sandoval? This question is, unfortunately, only one that time will be able to answer.
With opinions so split and Vanderpump Rules being left in the past as Tom Sandoval moves on with his career, only time will tell whether or not he's able to kick his reputation as one third of Scandoval and move past being known as a cheater or if it's something that will continue to follow him through all his endeavors as VPR fans hatewatch.
