Recently, an account on X (formerly Twitter) shared an alleged screenshot from Brynn Whitfield's Instagram story that had fans buzzing. In the post, she was saying goodbye to The Real Housewives of New York and sharing that after two seasons, she would be leaving the show's cast.
But was the post real? Is Brynn Whitfield really saying goodbye to RHONY before the season finale and reunion even air? While there have been housewives like The Real Housewives of Potomac's Candiace Dillard Bassett that have left the show mid-season, but considering she left to focus on her pregnancy, that was obviously a special circumstance.
The account that announced Brynn Whitfield is leaving RHONY is a parody account
Despite the viral post that was being spread around the Housewives social media-verse, it doesn't look like Brynn Whitfield is saying goodbye to RHONY any time soon.
The account that shared the alleged Instagram story screenshot is called "@Bravfaux" and their bio states that they're a parody account, meaning that the "faux" in their username likely refers to the fact that their posts are all made up.
The account also shared a similar post claiming that Rebecca Minkoff had announced she was leaving The Real Housewives of New York, but it was also completely fabricated. Many of the posts that this parody account shares are obviously jokes, but there are a handful that the account makes up, like these two about these RHONY stars leaving the show, that seem just real enough to be believable.
Paired with the fact that much of this season has been criticized by fans for either being too boring, having too many self-produced storylines, or generally not living up to the legacy of the original Real Housewives of New York Cast, it's not surprising that a post about two cast members leaving fooled Real Housewives fans on X.
While it's still possible that a cast shakeup or even another full reboot could be in RHONY's future, Bravo hasn't said anything about it as of yet.
The final episode of the season won't be airing until mid-January, so it will likely be until sometime in the spring of 2025 before Bravo shares an update on the next season of the show.
Andy Cohen shared an update on the RHONY reunion
On his Sirius XM radio show, Andy Cohen Live, Bravo host and Real Housewives producer Andy Cohen shared an update on the future of The Real Housewives of New York -- and didn't say anything about Brynn Whitfield (or Rebecca Minkoff) leaving the current cast.
He teased the RHONY reunion on a recent episode of his radio show and said that someone "keeps changing the game" along with sharing that the reunion was filmed and that everyone looked great. He said, "We shot the [RHONY] reunion on Thursday. I cannot wait for you to see the looks. There's something very surprising."
Andy Cohen also said that although he's aware that fans have mixed opinions on this season, he feels like they'll be impressed by the reunion. He teased on his radio show, "I think that the finale sets up the reunion very well because you will see that there is something very controversial and kind of upsetting at the end of the finale."
The Real Housewives of New York airs every Tuesday at 9/8c on Bravo with episodes streaming the following day on Peacock.
