Candiace Dillard Bassett joined The Real Housewives of Potomac in season 3 and left after season 8, but she recently shared that she has absolutely no regrets about leaving the series so she could focus on her pregnancy and put herself first.
She recently spoke with PEOPLE about how her pregnancy and why she has no regrets "whatsoever" when it comes to leaving the show behind so she could focus on herself and getting ready to have her baby. She recently announced that she and her husband, Chris, welcomed their first child into the world when they shared the news of their son, Jett, being born.
According to Candiace, she's nothing but thrilled with the way that her pregnancy went and she said she's "so happy" and that her "leisurely and kind and beautiful" pregnancy is everything she could have hoped for.
She told the publication, "Working out was so empowering, eating whatever the hell I wanted, demanding whatever food from my husband, and he was running to the store at midnight to get whatever I needed. It was amazing."
According to the former reality TV star, things likely wouldn't have been so easy on her if she had gone ahead and signed on for season 9 of The Real Housewives of Potomac. She shared with PEOPLE that she was expecting to "hate" being pregnant because of the nausea and changes in her body, but she was lucky to have the exact opposite experience.
On whether or not it would have gone that way if she had stayed on RHOP, Candiace Dillard Bassett said, "I know that I would not have had that experience if I had been going through my pregnancy, the meat of my pregnancy, which is the second trimester, which is the time where you're not sick anymore, your energy kind of comes back. That's the time that you can really thrive. And I would've not enjoyed it. I would've been robbed of what was the most beautiful experience of my life outside of [Jett] being born."
Although she shared that she doesn't regret stepping away from the show and that she's been too busy focused on life with a newborn to watch this season of the show, she's "happy" that people are enjoying it and shared that she still looks back on her time on the show fondly. She told the publication, "I'm a part of the legacy of Potomac and no one can ever take that away from me."
