Grant Ellis' first Bachelor Nation appearance was when he was one of the contestants on Jenn Tran's season of The Bachelorette, but after he failed to find love with the leading lady of his first season, he was announced as the next Bachelor.
Now, ahead of the premiere of season 29 of The Bachelor, Grant Ellis is sharing the things he thinks are red flags or could rule out a woman being his potential wife. Plus, he's explaining why he's excited to show off his personality on The Bachelor in a way he wasn't able to when he was on The Bachelorette.
Grant Ellis says this is how he knows if a woman is looking for the same thing he is in a relationship
According to Grant Ellis, he's looking for someone who wants a serious relationship and is ready to start a family like he is.
The latest Bachelor says that he feels like that takes a lot of maturity and that he can tell if a woman has reached that level or if she's not quite in that place in her life based on how she behaves and it was something he was keeping an eye on while filming his season of The Bachelor.
He told PEOPLE, "I think that there's a certain maturity level that comes with wanting a family and wanting a long-lasting relationship, so I think that maturity was something that I looked for in these women. And if they're starting drama, or if they're gossiping, or if they're doing certain things, that just indicates a lack of maturity."
Grant Ellis went on to tell the publication about the red flags he was watching for in the contestants that were competing for his heart during filming and, along with looking for someone with good hygiene who takes care of themselves, Grant Ellis said that he doesn't want anyone who is too full of themselves.
"For me, a red flag is somebody who's too self-absorbed. I like when somebody's compassionate and somebody has a heart for other people because that's the way I am, so I feel like it has to mesh with how I feel," he told PEOPLE in an interview ahead of the premiere of season 29 of The Bachelor.
According to The Bachelor star, who was sent home by Jenn Tran when he appeared on her season of The Bachelorette, sending people home at each rose ceremony was one of the hardest parts of filming the dating reality show.
He told PEOPLE, "As time progresses, you get to know these women better, and they're so great, they put their hearts out there. So that was the hard part, just letting somebody down that their heart was in it. That was really tough for me, but it's something that was a step forward in me finding my person, so that's something that I'm happy about."
Grant Ellis is ready to show more of his personality in season 29 of The Bachelor
Because Grant has experience with being eliminated during a rose ceremony, he understands how hard it can be to be sent home. And he said that he felt like being sent home on Jenn Tran's season of The Bachelorette meant he wasn't able to show off who he is to the audience fully and is excited to let The Bachelor viewers get a better glimpse into his life as he tries to find love.
"On Jenn's season I didn't really get to show who I was: my personality, my sense of humor and just the way I am on an everyday basis. I think that that'll come across in the season. Hopefully people get to know my story, and hopefully it inspires some people," he told PEOPLE.
Despite being sent home on The Bachelorette, Grant Ellis says that he spent his time between seasons healing and he's ready to come back to TV and put his best foot forward on his search to find love.
