Ally Lewber recently appeared on an episode of The Viall Files to talk about the aftermath of her breakup with Vanderpump Rules star James Kennedy and revealed that someone surprising reached out to her following his arrest: Lisa Vanderpump.
Ally Lewber and James Kennedy called it quits on their relationship after his arrest for domestic violence arrest in December 2024 and two of his other exes, VPR's Kristen Doute and Rachel (Raquel) Leviss each shared statements of relief that he was finally facing consequences for his behavior and sharing their own stories of abuse at his hands.
Unfortunately, Ally Lewber says that Lisa Vanderpump was on the opposite end of the spectrum from his exes when it came to issuing words of support about his arrest.
"Protective" Lisa Vanderpump encouraged Ally Lewber to stay with James Kennedy after domestic violence arrest and breakup
According to Ally Lewber, about two months after James Kennedy was arrested, Lisa Vanderpump gave her a call to check on her. The former VPR star and DJ's ex-girlfriend says that she feels Lisa Vanderpump is "very protective over James" and so she wasn't surprised at the things that were said during the phone call.
"All I’ll say is she called me and she did make sure [to ask], ‘Are you OK?’" Ally Lewber recalled during the episode of the podcast.
She went on to explain that she was not physically harmed during their altercation and that she chose not to press charges on James Kennedy, who was released shortly after his arrest and has said that he's focused on staying sober and making positive changes in his life.
Ally Lewber said that along with checking to make sure that she was okay after James Kennedy's arrest and their breakup, Lisa Vanderpump also encouraged her to get back together with her ex, which lead Ally Lewber to momentarily being concerned that she had made the wrong decision in breaking up with him.
"She was basically, like, 'Ally, he needs you. You're really good together.' She was like, 'You should go travel with him to his shows this weekend,'" Ally Lewber said on Nick Viall's podcast and continued on to say that she's "not afraid" of Lisa Vanderpump, who she feels still has the mindset of a time period that was "a little misogynistic" for the comments she made about James Kennedy's mistakes.
Ally Lewber says Lisa Vanderpump gave her "misogynistic" relationship advice
Ally Lewber said that Lisa Vanderpump blamed their breakup on being young and the fact that, like James Kennedy, Ally Lewber was also under the influence that night.
She told Nick Viall on his podcast that Lisa Vanderpump said, "It felt like, 'You guys are young, this is what happens when people drink. Ken [Lisa Vanderpump's husband] was also a playboy and naughty when we were younger, and I had to whip him into shape.' It was of that era of [being] a little misogynistic."
Ally Lewber reveals that Lisa Vanderpump tried to convince her to stay with James Kennedy after his domestic violence arrest. It’s not surprising that Lisa would try and get Ally to stay with an abuser but it’s so icky and disheartening. Ally says Lisa also tried to place some… pic.twitter.com/HIct9VuFkP

According to Ally Lewber, despite Lisa Vanderpump's encouragement to take James Kennedy back and that she needs to "kiss a lot of frogs" before she finds her prince, she did not make the decision to get back together with her ex and said that she doesn't want to find love that way.
"I don’t want to marry a frog," Ally Lewber said of the "depressing" advice. She went on to reveal that she's currently single and that she finds it somewhat "scary" to put herself out into the dating world after what happened with her and James Kennedy, which is likely not a surprise to any Vanderpump Rules fans.
