Is Sister Wives' Kody Brown holding onto a lingering "connection" with one of his ex-wives? According to the most recent episode of the series, the answer might be yes.

As fans of the show know, Kody was only ever legally married to Meri Brown, his first wife, who he divorced legally in 2010 in order to marry Robyn, his only remaining wife. Meri left their plural marriage in 2023 and in the following year, Meri went through her family's former church in order to get a "spiritual release" to finalize their divorce.

As part of the faith of the church they were married in, marriage is really forever and without a spiritual release, the two of them would have been married in the afterlife even though they got divorced in their current lives.

Meri's spiritual release from her ex-husband was a big topic of conversation on the most recent episode of Sister Wives when Kody Brown revealed that he didn't feel like he needed to receive an official spiritual release from two of his ex-wives, but that he does still feel some kind of "karmic connection" to one of his exes.

In the episode, Janelle Brown revealed that Meri's spiritual release from their marriage got her thinking about her own divorce from Kody. Janelle was the second wife to join their plural marriage and also the second to leave the family, but she shared that she wouldn't "know who to call" in order to receive a spiritual release from their marriage, but that it's something that she might be interested in pursuing in the future.

In a confessional segment, Kody Brown reflected on his own thoughts on the fact that Meri Brown received a spiritual release from their marriage and talked about whether or not he would think about getting one of his own. According to Kody, he hasn't felt the need to take that final step with two of his ex-wives, but that he still feels some kind of connection to one of them.

In the confessional, Kody Brown said, "I didn't feel like I needed a spiritual divorce from Meri, and I didn't feel like I needed a spiritual divorce from Christine. I don't know if there's some kind of karmic connection that Janelle and I are obligated to still."

Considering the fact that Janelle Brown recently shared that "detox" her "word of the year" for 2025 and that she's letting go of things from her past, it doesn't seem like she's on the same page as Kody as far as feeling that "karmic connection."

In the Instagram post where she shared her resolutions for the new year, she shared that she was going to be working on her boundaries with other people and said that one of her priorities for 2025 would be forming "meaningful connections" and "seeking out community in all areas of [her] life."

"[I]t's about freedom. Freedom from things that weigh me down, so I can make room for the things that truly matter," she wrote in the conclusion to the caption on her Instagram post.

Since she left Kody in 2022, there's been a lot going on in Janelle Brown's life and of course, it's not just her split from Kody that Janelle has to leave behind in order to take care of herself in 2025. But, with the Coyote Pass drama putting an even bigger rift between the ex-wives and their shared ex-husband, there's no denying that Kody Brown is likely on the list of things Janelle is trying to detox from.
