It's been a long road for Stassi Schroeder since she was fired from Bravo's Vanderpump Rules in 2020. Four years later, it was announced that she's returning to reality TV -- but not as part of the rebooted Vanderpump Rules cast. Instead, she'll be joining Hulu's Vanderpump Villa.

What did Lisa Vanderpump say about Stassi Schroeder joining Vanderpump Villa?

Lisa Vanderpump first announced that Stassi Schroeder would be making her return to reality TV by joining the cast of her latest show, Vanderpump Villa, in an Instagram video in which she asks what should be on the menu for the second season of the show and the camera pans to Stassi Schroeder herself.

This was surprising to fans since Stassi Schroeder had been fired in 2020 for falsely accusing Faith Stowers of theft. Kristen Doute, who returned to Bravo in 2024 as a member of the cast of The Valley, was fired alongside her for the same event and the two faced major backlash for their actions.

Now, Lisa Vanderpump is explaining her decision to bring Stassi Schroeder back to reality TV with a role on Vanderpump Villa and talking about how she feels about the fact that she was fired from Vanderpump Rules.

Lisa Vanderpump sat down with ET to share her thoughts on Stassi Schroeder being fired and explain what she's hoping to give viewers by bringing her back to reality TV in this new role.

According to Lisa Vanderpump, Stassi Schroeder (and Kristen Doute, by association, since she was fired for the same thing) being fired from Vanderpump Rules was a "sign of the times" that Lisa Vanderpump was "always sad" about happening. She called Bravo choosing to fire Stassi was an "overreaction" and says that if anyone's past was dug into the way Bravolebrities' lives are broadcast, there would be something unsavory unearthed.

She speaks out against the "cancel culture" that lead to Stassi being removed from Vanderpump Rules and goes on to say that the Stassi Schroeder that is joining Vanderpump Villa is still the same Stassi that viewers got to know on Vanderpump Rules, but says that she has calmed down slightly with time and is not as "naughty."

Because Lisa Vanderpump says that she's very in favor of younger people learning from their mistakes and moving past them, it's assumed that the Stassi Schroeder that will be featured in season 2 of Vanderpump Villa will have learned from her old ways and grown up, but only time will tell whether or not Lisa is right that Bravo had a "knee-jerk reaction" when it came to booting her off the show.

Season 1 of Vanderpump Villa is currently streaming on Hulu and season 2 doesn't have a release date just yet, but it likely filmed during the summer of 2024 and since the first season aired weekly on Hulu in the spring, the next season will probably follow the same schedule.
