Summer House star Lindsay Hubbard faced backlash from some Bravo fans after she announced her pregnancy with a sponsored post by pregnancy test brand Clearblue, but the reality star and social media influencer says she doesn't feel bad about "monetizing" her pregnancy announcement the way she did.

"Why not?": Lindsay Hubbard questions fan reaction to her sponsored pregnancy announcement

After she welcomed her first daughter, Gemma Britt Kufe, into the world, Lindsay Hubbard has defended herself against Summer House fans who criticized her decision to announce her pregnancy with a sponsored post.

On the Trading Secrets podcast with Jason Tartick, she opened up about the fact that people were not happy with the fact that her pregnancy announcement was a sponsored post by Clearblue. Although the comment section was full of people sharing that they're happy for Lindsay, there were also several comments that were questioning her decision to announce her pregnancy through an ad.

One fan wrote in the comment section of her announcement post, "Girl I’m happy for you, but I cannot get over you announcing this as an ad."

Meanwhile, others questioned the fact that she waited until she got a brand to sponsor the announcement before she posted it, but Lindsay Hubbard doesn't understand the negative reactions she got to her sponsored pregnancy announcement.

"They were like, 'I can't believe she monetized her pregnancy announcement.' And it's like, why not? I'm gonna make the announcement anyway, why not make money from it?" She said on the podcast about the fact that people were "torn up" about the fact that her pregnancy announcement post was sponsored by a pregnancy test company.

She went on to clear up the fact that she didn't just wait until any pregnancy test company agreed to sponsor the post. According to the Bravolebrity, she reached out to the company whose test she had already used and asked if they would sponsor the announcement since she used their product and was going to be announcing her pregnancy one way or the other.

On the podcast, she said, "I used Clearblue, I used the digital test. That was the test I used back in April when I found out I was pregnant. So why not go to them and say, 'Hey, I used your test, I'm about to announce my pregnancy, do you want to sponsor this?"

Lindsay Hubbard says she made $100k as an influencer in 2024

It sounds like posts like her Clearblue-sponsored pregnancy announcement paid off for the Summer House star and former PR pro because she shared on the podcast that in 2024, she made over $100,000 as a full-time social media influencer.

"This is how I'm making my money. I'm not doing PR anymore, I'm not sitting behind a desk," she shared on the podcast about the fact that when she's not filming Summer House episodes for Bravo, Lindsay Hubbard has transitioned into being a social media influencer full-time -- and she says it's really paying off.

On the episode, Lindsay Hubbard said that her background in PR has helped her to shift to different brand deals depending on where she is in her life and she looks for ways to monetize different parts of her life.

"Why not make money from that?" Lindsay joked on the podcast episode about the fact that she took on a brand deal with Jimmy John's as a callback to a season 5 episode in which there was some major drama about sandwiches. She said that while she was engaged, she was working with bridal brands for brand deals and now as a new mom, she's shifted to baby brands and sees no problem monetizing things she was going to use anyway.

The first eight seasons of Summer House are streaming on Peacock now and Lindsay Hubbard will be returning for season 9 when it premieres on Bravo on February 12 at 9 ET.
