What is the theme for Survivor 50?

For their 50th season, CBS picked a special theme for Survivor, titling it Survivor 50: In the Hands of the Fans. This is a fitting name for the season because for the first time, everything about how the game is played will be up to the fans to vote on.

Fans have already been able to vote on the tribe colors, whether or not the tribes would get rice, and whether or not the final four fire making should stay when season 50 comes around. Now, the fans are getting to vote on another round of high stakes questions, including the look of the immunity necklaces, whether or not the castaways will be given supplies without having to complete a challenge to get them, and whether or not there should be a lot of twists in the season.

The last question in particular is one that's certainly going to be a point of contention for fans of Survivor since some fans of the franchise love the twists and turns that add another layer of challenge to each season while others want the game simplified more.

In regards to the question about adding or not adding twists, CBS said, "The right twist at the right moment can change the game for players in exciting ways. But some fans prefer a more straightforward game where strategic alliances are all that matter. Which are you?"

It's not clear whether or not CBS will consider the fans' voices when it comes to future seasons when they set up the game in them, but it will definitely be interesting to see how fans use their voices to impact Survivor 50.

How to vote on Survivor 50: In the Hands of the Fans twists

CBS hasn't specified exactly what twists the fans are going to be voting on potentially keeping or getting rid of, but they have revealed that fans will be allowed to vote on whether or not the players are going to be given challenges or taken back to the old school, simplified seasons of Survivor.

Fans that are interested in voting on Survivor's twists for season 50 can visit the website CBS set up to host the polls during the April 16 episode of Survivor.

Survivor airs every Wednesday at 8 p.m. ET on CBS and is available for streaming afterward on Paramount+. Although voting for this round will open during April 16's episode of Survivor 48, CBS won't be airing Survivor 50 until sometime in 2026 and fans will have to wait until the 50th season airs to see what the fans picked for each category.
