Following the loss of her family's home in the fires that devastated the Los Angeles area, The Hills alum Heidi Montag has released a followup to her 2010 album, Superficial. The new release, Superficial 2, has all the songs from her original album plus 12 brand new songs -- but one of them really has fans raising their eyebrows.

The surprise drop came after Heidi and Spencer Montag received an outpouring of support from fans when they broke the news that they were among the many people that lost their home in the Pacific Palisades wildfire in early 2025.

Because of the support, Heidi Montag's original 2010 Superficial album hit the Billboard charts for the first time ever, making its debut on the Billboard 200, Top Album Sales, and other January 25, 2025 charts 15 years after the album was first released.

The release of Heidi Montag's Superficial 2 is really taking fans back to the early 2010s because many fans think that one of the songs on Heidi's new album is a throwback to her days on The Hills.

Heidi Montag might have just referenced an iconic line from The Hills in a heartfelt song about losing a friend

Reality TV fans that grew up watching Laguna Beach and The Hills will certainly remember that before Heidi Montag was releasing music, she was one of Lauren Conrad's best friends until the two fell out in a major way on the show. The show, which drew criticism at the time for being highly scripted, gave fans some iconic moments, including many, many scenes of Lauren Conrad's mascara running while she cried.

One unforgettable moment on the show came when Heidi Montag and Lauren Conrad were having a heart-to-heart about their friendship issues and Lauren very poignantly told Heidi: "I wanna forgive you and I wanna forget you."

Now, fans are revisiting that moment because of one of the songs on Heidi Montag's Superficial 2. The song, called "Forgive & Forget," is about a friendsihp that fell apart but there are some pretty obvious references to reality TV in general and some specific nods to her former friendship with Lauren Conrad, including a reference to her iconic line about forgiving and forgetting Heidi.

The song's chorus directly says "I wanna forgive you, I wanna forget you" but that's not the only direct reference to Lauren Conrad and their broken friendship.

In the second verse of the song, Heidi Montag calls out Lauren Conrad for throwing their friendship away in order to make good reality TV and make herself look like the winner in their friendship breakdown. Over an upbeat, dancy beat, Heidi Montag sings, "Used mascara, tears and sympathy just to get some good TV
/ Do you know what that did to me? (Do you know that?)
/ Storylines and shady lies, words you used to weaponize
/ Took so long to get the knife (Out of my back)
."

Lauren Conrad, who was married in 2014 and shares two children with her husband, is semi-inactive on her social media accounts these days and seems to have stepped out of the spotlight to focus on her family life and her businesses. Because of this, it's unclear whether or not she'll respond to Heidi's song, but fans have been sharing their support for the song since it was released.
