Dorit Kemsley says PK is a 'full-blown alcoholic' but divorce is 'not a topic of conversation'

The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills season 14 is finally here and the premiere did not hold back with the drama. The biggest reveal of the premiere was the fact that Dorit Kemsley finally opened up about what lead to her separation from her husband PK, but don't call it a divorce. Like Kyle Richards, Dorit is making it clear that she and her husband are not ready to officially call it quits.
The premiere showed Dorit opening up to Erika Jayne about her choice to separate from PK before it made headlines and it really changed some things that she had said in the past, like when she claimed at the season 13 reunion that their marriage was "better than ever."
Why did Dorit and PK Kemsley choose to separate?
During the premiere, she revealed that PK allegedly had a serious problem with alcoholism and that his drinking made their relationship "toxic" and that she eventually told him that he needed to stop drinking if they were going to stay together.
According to Dorit, PK had "always" been someone to drink, but it had started taking more and more of a toll on their relationship as the years went on. She confided in Erika, "Over the years, it's gotten progressively worse, and little fights will turn into blow-ups. We would be in the gutter after a fight, screaming at one another. I don't want that toxic energy around small children."
She revealed that there was no massive cheating scandal or anything in their relationship and that the pair still loved each other, but were taking their separation day-by-day.
Dorit revealed during the episode, "There was a moment and it was over nothing, and one thing led to another, and we sat down like two very mature adults who love and care about one another, and mutually decided that taking some space and separating is the best thing for us."
Meanwhile, PK told Kyle Richards' ex-husband Mauricio that he saw the cracks in their marriage as well and after he started working on his sobriety, he realized that he had "resentment" toward Dorit and claimed that she made working things out difficult because he felt like "she's not" able to listen to him voicing his concerns about their relationship.
In a confessional segment, Dorit opened up about the fact that she felt like the only one trying to work on their relationship while PK was ready to give up on their marriage.
"I chose to stick by PK's side through a bunch of public scrutiny, like the bankruptcy, gambling debts, the suspected DUI. But for PK, it's 'Poof! Let's just get a separation," Dorit told the cameras during the episode and went on to say that she doesn't feel like PK is able to meet her in the middle and work on their issues.
Are Dorit and PK Kemsley going to get a divorce?
Despite the problems in their marriage, Dorit makes it very clear that the two of them are definitely not divorced.
On the November 19 episode of Watch What Happens Live, Dorit got candid about where her marriage to PK stands now and whether or not the two of them are working things out in their marriage.
"We are friendly and communicating and things are status quo," she told the host and revealed that things are "good" between them. This revelation comes just a month after the two of them shared their matching family Halloween costume and rumors began swirling that the two of them had made up after all, but it seems like for Dorit, things aren't quite so black and white and she's still focused on trying to keep things normal for their children.
When Andy Cohen asked if there's a divorce "in process," Dorit had a simple answer: "No, nor is it even a topic of conversation."
