The December 18 episode of The Real Housewives of Salt Lake City left viewers with so much to talk about, but it had some Bravo fans raising an eyebrow at Bronwyn Newport when she went on Watch What Happens Live afterward to make an interesting comment about her marriage to husband, Todd.
Bronwyn Newport revealed Todd cheated on her in the past
While on the boat, Bronwyn Newport opened up about the "real s--t" that has gone on in her relationship with her husband, Todd, and listed the fact that she's a stepmother to Todd's children and the fact that they have an age gap relationship but the real bombshell came when she revealed that there had been previous infidelity in their relationship.
According to Bronwyn's retelling of the story, "A couple of years ago, we were on a trip, and he was texting someone on his iPad, and Gwen went to say something to him, and Gwen saw it over his shoulder."
She says that after her daughter caught Todd texting another woman on his iPad, Bronwnyn confronted him about the infidelity.
During a confessional, she said that she had never told the other women in the cast about this, but she wanted to open up about this part of her life and show them some of her insecurities and get vulnerable with them about something hard she had been through in her own marriage.
The reveal even shocked Lisa Barlow, the snowflake holder who brought Bronwyn onto the show as one of her close personal friends, who said that she thought the two of them had such a perfect relationship. But, according to Bronwyn, Todd's "fatal flaw" is that he's never satisfied with what he has, especially in his business, and that can leak into their personal life.
Bronwyn Newport says RHOSLC doesn't reflect what her marriage is really like
The reveal that Todd had cheated on Bronwyn Newport was one that came as a huge shock to Real Housewives fans, but it was her comments on Watch What Happens Live immediately after that really caught some fans off guard.
According to Bronwyn, The Real Housewives of Salt Lake City isn't a fair representation of their relationship because of the fact that Todd prefers to keep more of their relationship private, which means that viewers only get glimpses of what they have together. Because of this, some fans have thought Todd came across as cold or distant in their marriage, which Bronwyn says is not the case.
On Watch What Happens Live, where she was a guest on the December 18 show alongside Melissa Gorga, Andy Cohen asked if she feels like RHOSLC sheds a fair light on her marriage to Todd.
In response, Bronwyn had this to say, "So much of what's really special between Todd and I, he wants to be private. So, I knew that was never being filmed for the show. And then also, I just wanted to go on the show and be myself -- I can be a little sarcastic, I just kind of put everything out there... I've learned that honesty is the best policy until you're on reality TV."
Melissa Gorga told her to put everything out there because it will come out on the show and people are going to have their opinions one way or another.
Bronwyn said that she feels like people on reality TV try to make their lives look perfect and hide the unsavory parts, but she wanted to be honest and share what her life is really like, even if that occasionally meant hitting a rough patch with Todd, like when she shared the story of his infidelity.
In the episode, Bronwyn revealed that Todd had made his infidelity up to her by buying her a ring with five diamonds, each symbolizing one of five promises that he was making to her for the future of their marriage.
Since the two of them are still married as of 2024, it seems like they managed to get through this rough patch, but Bronwyn Newport said she sometimes worries when he goes out of town for business that it might happen again.
Although this reveal had some fans questioning the fact that the two were still together or scrutinizing moments that Todd and Bronwyn were featured on the show, others chalked it up to exactly what Bronwyn said on Watch What Happens Live: that she's not trying to be perfect or hide anything from the cameras.
