Jax Taylor had Bravo producer Alex Baskin as a guest on the premiere episode of his podcast, In the Mind of a Man, and he confirmed something that fans of Vanderpump Rules have long been specualting: he was fired from the show -- but not for the reasons that fans thought.

In 2020, fans began calling for Jax Taylor to be removed from the Vanderpump Rules cast after he, like Kristen Doute and Stassi Schroeder, had accused Faith Stowers of theft. While his co-stars had been accused of falsely reporting her to the police for her alleged crimes, fans found social media posts from Jax Taylor in which he had similarly lodged false accusations against her. .

While Stassi Schroeder and Kristen Doute had been fired in the summer of 2020, Jax Taylor and his then-wife Brittany Cartwright's departure from the series came in December of that same year and while their announcement that they left was somewhat vague, it still had fans wondering whether they had chosen to leave on their own or if they had been fired.

According to the podcast episode, Jax Taylor was let go from Vanderpump Rules, but it wasn't because of his accusation against Faith Stowers.

Jax Taylor revealed the real reason he was fired from Vanderpump Rules

While discussing what the "nail in the coffin" for his time on Vanderpump Rules was, Jax Taylor recalled a specific issue he had with a filming call from production.

He said, "They wanted us to film at the beach, which was in Malibu. We all live in Hollywood. So I said that we can do the same scene at a park in West Hollywood. Like, why do we need to go to rush hour to get to Malibu to shoot a five-minute scene, which is going to take two hours to get there?"

Jax continued by discussing the fact that he was in a battle with the production team about the fact that he didn't want to drive all the way to Malibu to clean a beach when he didn't feel like it was going to be worth his time to be there for such a short filming period when he could do it closer to home. He said on the podcast, "I was not going to drive three hours and that’s when I needed a piece of humble pie."

Alex Baskin, a producer for Vanderpump Rules and other Bravo shows, elaborated on Jax Taylor's recollection of the story.

"You were being a pain in the ass about it and you were saying, 'I'm not going to go, this is so stupid,'" Alex Baskin said on the podcast and went on to say that Jax Taylor attempting to refuse to film wasn't the only issue in the situation and continued on to say, "Then you were texting other people. So then, of course, we saw those texts and were like, 'Can you believe Jax is sabotaging the production?'"

Looking back on this moment, Jax Taylor acknowledges on his podcast that it was a mistake and calls the attempt to "sabotage" the episode that they were filming a "dumb a-- move." He went on to say that there were a number of other times throughout the series that he had gone head-to-head against the production team, but he felt like that specific instance was the final straw that got him kicked off the show.

Jax Taylor can be seen in episodes ofVanderpump Rules and The Valley, both now streaming on Peacock.
