Because of the judgment, Monica Garcia has been ordered to pay Beauty Lab a total of $35,853.60, a total that includes over $31,000 in attorney fees for Beauty Lab, the original $2,000 bill that Monica Garcia was sued for in 2023, interest, and even a $15 late fee.
Tthe documents obtained by The U.S. Sun state that Monica Garcia's attorneys fought back against the attorney fees that made up the majority of the fees that Monica Garcia is being ordered to pay. The documents read, "The amount of fees sought by plaintiff is greatly excessive in view of the amount in dispute in this action."
According to the court documents, Heather Gay's Beauty Lab had initially sued Monica Garcia for failing to pay a large portion of her bill at the spa. The document states that Monica Garcia's total bill was $2,449 which included a $49 setup fee and a $400 down payment for services, meaning that she left the final $2,000 unpaid.
The court filing claims that Monica Garcia signed a contract agreeing to pay $200 per month for 10 months to pay off the rest of the bill, but that Monica refused to pay and stated in a counterclaim that she felt that she received "received defective, negligently given injections, which did not have the intended, promised result."
"An appeal will be filed. We are confident," Monica Garcia's attorney told The U.S. Sun in regards to the decision made by the court. The documents state that her attorneys are fighting to have the attorney fees for Beauty Lab removed from her judgment, claiming that $31,000 in attorney fees being added to the initial $2,000 that she was sued for is "greatly excessive."
