Would it really be a season of Love Is Blind on Netflix without some major breakup drama? Season 8's Madison was in the center of a breakup of her own after Alex, her in-pod boyfriend at the time, defended Mason after he was accused of using the same lines on two different women in the pods. Now, she's sharing more information about their breakup and explaining why she says that Alex is "not the same person" that she was talking to in the pods.

In an episode released on February 28, it was revealed that Madison and Alex briefly reconnected after leaving the pods -- but don't think that means the two of them decided to make things work. Madison recently spoke to PEOPLE about what happened when the two of them met and it's safe to say that this breakup was messy.

According to Madison, when she looked at her phone after exiting the pods, she was met with an Instagram DM from Alex, who wanted to meet up with her now that they were out in the real world.

She told the publication of their exchange: "He was like, 'I really want to meet up with you at the airport.' And I was like, 'Did we not just break up? That was pretty emotional for me. I don't know, maybe we should take some time.'"

Madison said that when the two of them started speaking outside of the pods, that it became "pretty clear" to her that Alex was "not the same person that [she] was speaking to in the pods" because he had completely changed his stance on some things that the two of them had talked about while in the pods.

"I'm like, 'What did you really think about Mason?' And he's like, 'Oh, he's a massive weirdo. He's super weird.' I was like, 'But you were just defending him. That's so bizarre to me,'" she told the publication, saying that Alex is a "huge liar" for denying that he had defended Mason, something that Alex had previously said he had no regrets about doing. In the most recent drop of episodes of Love Is Blind, Alex denied saying this and the disagreement was a source of tension between the two of them.

It's obvious that the two of them were not meant to be a match outside of the pods and in an interview with PEOPLE, Alex said that he felt like it was for the best for the two of them to split.

He told the publication, "I think pretty quickly we just realized that we were on different pages once again, and we wanted to go our separate ways, and that's totally fine. I think that was what was best for both of us, is to just cut ties and go our separate directions. Again, I have nothing but respect for her, I hope she's doing well, but yeah, I think it was best for both of us to stop communication."

In her own interview, Madison agreed with the fact that it was for the best that the two of them didn't move forward with their relationship. She mentioned the fact that she and Alex were both hesitant to get too serious with one another and went on to say, "We don't end up together, and so I think that was honestly probably for the best."

The first 12 episodes of Love Is Blind season 8 are streaming on Netflix now. The season finale and season 8 reunion will be available on Netflix on March 7 and March 9, respectively.
