Here's what happened during Hannah Berner & Paige DeSorbo's Megan Thee Stallion interview

The Summer House stars were doing interviews at the 2025 Vanity Fair Oscar Party on a livestream for Vanity Fair's account and unfortunately for the two of them, their behavior and some specific comments Hannah Berner made are going viral for all the wrong reasons.

Throughout the entire interview, which was later posted to Vanity Fair's account after the livestream concluded, Paige DeSorbo and Hannah Berner are talking over Megan Thee Stallion (and one another) and it makes for an awkward watch. Though it's understandable that they're excited to be talking to such a major star, many people have criticized the two of them for their unprofessional behavior and for seemingly completely casting aside the person they're interviewing.

But things get worse when Hannah Berner makes one specific comment to Megan Thee Stallion that her fans are directly calling out.

In the interview, Paige DeSorbo tells the "Roc Steady" rapper that she starts her day listening to Megan's music but before Megan can respond, the two of them are back to their earlier behavior and Hannah Berner says she's going to cry and interjects with her own experience with Megan Thee Stallion's music.

Hannah Berner says, "When I want to fight someone, I listen to your music." To this, Megan Thee Stallion responds by trying to redirect the conversation and tells her, "You want to throw that fighting s--- out the window. You want to get cute and be a bad b----."

Unfortunately, the attempt to pivot the conversation seems lost on Hannah who continues by saying that when "people are talking s---," she wants Megan Thee Stallion's music turned on. Once again, the rapper attempts to redirect the association between her music and violence when Megan references one of her own songs and says, "Body-ody-ody, I look beautiful, I look so great."

Hannah Berner seems to take the hint when she immediately switches to talking excitedly about how she saw Megan Thee Stallion's documentary and wants to know how she manages to stay so inspiring and confident despite what she's gone through.

Unfortunately, she and Paige DeSorbo are also back to talking over each other and not really engaging with Megan Thee Stallion's answers as Paige cuts in to say she's "never seen [Hannah] this passionate."

Hannah Berner & Paige DeSorbo received major backlash for the interview

After the Giggly Squad hosts' interview was posted online, the two were met with immediate backlash and criticism for Hannah Berner's comments about Megan Thee Stallion's music, the way the two of them talked over each other and didn't engage with the rapper, and their general unprofessionalism.

The comments on Vanity Fair's TikTok video of the interview are not kind to the pair with comments running the full gamut of angry and disappointed responses, saying things like: "Meg handled that micro aggression so well," "Mind you Megan doesn’t fight…," and "Meg's music isn’t about fighting and the fangirling is a spectacle. Please hire real interviewers that know how to talk to black women as PEOPLE and not characters."

On top of the comments on Vanity Fair's account, the internet has been lit up with stitches, video reactions, and posts across every social media platform about their thoughts on the way that the two of them behaved and in specific, Hannah Berner's comments.

Many fans went on to point out that on top of not rapping about fighting or being violent, Megan Thee Stallion was made a very public victim of violence in 2020 when rapper Tory Lanez shot her in the foot leaving Kylie Jenner's party. Her documentary, Megan Thee Stallion: In Her Words, acknowledged the shooting incident and Hannah Berner said that she watched it, so failing to consider the impact of violence on Megan's own life and public image seemed like a major oversight.

Hannah Berner called her choice of words "careless"

After the major backlash that came her way for her behavior and comments during her Megan Thee Stallion interview, Hannah Berner took to her Instagram account to release a statement about her "careless" word choice during the interview.

"I wish I used any other word except ‘fight’ to describe how her songs impact me," she wrote in the Instagram story where she called interviewing Megan Thee Stallion a "dream."

She went on to say, "It was a careless choice of words and though there was no ill intent, I recognize and acknowledge that what I said has a deeper meaning and I am so sorry to Megan."
