Sister Wives: Kody Brown once gave Meri Brown a 'list' of things to do to fix their marriage
By Lacey Womack
Sister Wives is once again bringing the drama with big reveals about what went wrong in Kody Brown's plural marriage. This time, Meri Brown revealed that before she and Kody decided to call their marriage off, he had given her a "list" of things he wanted her to do in order to fix their marriage.
Kody Brown had previously revealed that his marriage with Meri Brown, his first wife, was "on the rocks" the entire time they were married. And now, on the November 17 episode of Sister Wives, Meri shared that Kody had given her a "list" of things he wanted her to do so that the two of them could get ready to work on their marriage. Then, Meri shared on the epsiode, Kody was "done" with the marriage despite his promises.
The episode showed Meri working on Lizzie's Heritage Inn, her bed and breakfast in Utah, while she spoke to her friend Jenn Sullivan and Jenn's husband. Meri opened up to her friend about her marriage to Kody and said, "He's like, 'Can you do this? And then, we can work on a relationship.'"
In a confessional segment during the episode, she elaborated on this and said, "He asked me for some specific things. He had this list of things that he wanted me to do in order for us to work on our marriage. And once I completed that list, he was done."
She went on to say that she realizes now when she looks back on their marriage that Kody hadn't been genuinely planning to work on things, "I recognize now that he was like, there's nothing else I can ask. There's no other thing that I can use as an excuse of why I'm not working on this marriage with her because I had done everything that he asked of me."
Even though Meri is officially single -- both legally and in the eyes of her church -- and her best friend Jenn offered to help her find love again, Meri said she's not quite ready to get back out into the dating world yet because it hasn't been long, but Jenn pointed out that her catfishing scandal was a decade ago, meaning that she's basically been single a lot longer than she's saying.
The episode went on to show Meri sharing her plans to move sooner than she was originally planning to with Kody and Robyn, who share their thoughts on the conflicting emotions that Kody is feeling about the fact that Meri is leaving.
Meri, who didn't receive alimony payments after her legal divorce from Kody Brown, jokingly asked for his help in moving to be her "severance package" and it seems like this joke really got to Kody.
In a confessional, he said, "It's a weird space to be -- with the severance package thing because I don't know if this is passive aggressive or if it's just aggressive or if it's just a joke. I don't know and I haven't known my whole marriage."
Sister Wives airs on TLC at 10 ET on Sundays.
