The Hills alum Kristin Cavallari has been keeping her kids (Camden, 12, Jaxon, 10, and daughter Saylor, 9) off social media and chose to keep them off her last reality show, Very Cavallari, but she recently revealed that she's planning to feature them on her upcoming E! series, Honestly Cavallari: The Headline Tour.
On the March 24 episode of her podcast, Kristin Cavallari opened up about her decision to keep the children that she shares with her retired NFL star ex-husband Jay Cuter off her last reality TV show.
Like many other social media moms, Kristin Cavallari has made the decision to keep her kids mostly off her social media accounts, either choosing not to post them at all or sharing snaps where the kids' faces are obscured or turned away from the camera. Likewise, she kept them off her last reality show entirely and now, she's opening up about why she feels like that was a mistake that she won't be repeating again on her new E! show.
On the March 24 episode of her podcast, she said that she felt like it was a mistake to keep them entirely off of Very Cavallari. She shared on the podcast episode, "I did a disservice to myself because if I can't show the biggest part of my life, well, now we're having to fill in all of these areas that would normally be my kids, and we're having to force storylines. And we're having to basically make s--- up."
According to The Hills star, her kids are a huge part of her life and keeping them off the show meant that her last show wasn't an accurate representation of her life.
"That was one thing that really bugged me because as busy as I was, my kids were still my priority. And I was still home every night making dinner, and I told the Very Cavallari producers that I wasn't filming at night. Like, I was home every day by 4 to be there when my kids got home from school and to make dinner and have a normal routine for my kids at night. And it didn't seem like that on the show," she went on to say about the way she would schedule her filming for Very Cavallari around her kids' schedule so that she could avoid putting them in front of the cameras.
Instead of trying to film around her kids and her life as a mom this time, Kristin Cavallari says that they're very much part of her new series.
According to the podcast host, she had cameras filming her day-to-day life with her children, including getting them ready for school in the morning and making dinner for them at night, adding a layer of authenticity to her new show that Very Cavallari lacked.
"They had fun filming, and they liked it. And I don't know -- it was a very, it was special for me to be able to share that with my kids, because, obviously, reality TV has been such a big part of my life. And so to be able to have that little piece with my kids was really fun," Kristin Cavallari said on her podcast.
But, the podcast host and reality TV star says that she's still mindful of her kids' feelings when it comes to removing a little of the layer of privacy that she's had over them on social media and her last reality show. She said on the podcast, "I would never want my kids to feel exposed or like I took advantage of them."
Honestly Cavallari: The Headline Tour premieres on E! on June 5 and will be available for streaming on Peacock.
