What is Extracted about?
FOX's newest reality show takes 12 contestants and puts them in the midst of the unforgiving Canadian wilderness where they'll be forced to try to survive in order to win a $250,000 prize.
To up the stakes, these unprepared competitors will be watched on a 24 hour feed by their loved ones who will be making decisions about how to help send them supplies that will keep them going.
And if the loved ones watching the camera feeds think that their survivor doesn't have what it takes to make it in the wilderness on their own?
They can press a button and have the competitor "extracted" from the game, forfeiting their prize money and taking them back to safety instead of continuing to compete.
This gives both the loved ones watching the camera feed and the competitors out in the wilderness a serious new level to the challenge. If a competitor wants to be taken out of the game and give up on their time out in the wilderness, they have to convince their loved one to hit the extraciton button and hope they listen. And if their loved ones get worried that things are getting too tough, they have the sole power to take their player out of the game -- even if they weren't ready to give up just yet.
In the trailer shared by FOX, emotions are shown to be running high as the family members in the control room watching the cameras are shown crying and insisting that they won't be pressing the button to take their family member out of the game. Meanwhile, the unprepared competitors in the wilderness are shown struggling with their limited supplies and wishing to end their time in the game already.
Since all the family members are in one room together watching the camera feeds, they're able to create alliances and have to compete against each other in order to give their survivors supplies and necessary advantages in the game, meaning that they're competing just as much as the people out in the wilderness.
When does Extracted premiere?
Extracted will be premiering on FOX on Monday, February 10 p.m. ET and, like other FOX shows, will be available for streaming the following day on Hulu.
