As part of her large family, Jinger Duggar grew up on reality TV. From specials about her and her many siblings to 19 Kids and Counting and eventually to Counting On, a show that primarily focused on her and her sisters as they moved on to start their own families.
On her podcast with her husband, Jeremy Vuolo, Jinger Duggar opened up about whether or not she would ever do another reality TV show and shared the things that she misses about having the cameras following her day-to-day life.
Does Jinger Duggar miss reality TV?
According to Jinger Duggar, she does miss some aspects of filming for her family's reality show. Because she was on the series for so long and the cameras followed so many milestones and events in her family's life, the show was like having a bunch of home videos for different times in her life.
But, according to Jinger, doing another series today wouldn't be the same because she wouldn't have the same producers and camera crew that she built such a close, family-like bond with when she was younger. Her husband, Jeremy, chimed in to say that it's also important to move on to do new things in life instead of constantly holding on to what you've done in the past.
On the podcast episode, he said, "If there’s too much nostalgia, it can lead to this depression because you’re thinking, ‘Man, I’ll never get that back,’ or ‘I’ll never have this opportunity again.’"
Would Jinger Duggar consider doing another reality show?
It's no secret that reality TV has seriously changed from when the Duggar family started having cameras enter their home in order to film their large family.
The first Duggar family special aired in 2004 when they filmed their special, 14 Kids and Pregnant Again. When that special was filmed, family matriarch Michelle Duggar was pregnant with her 15th child, Jackson Duggar, and Jinger was turning 11.
According to Jinger and her husband, Jeremy Vuolo, they would likely not be interested in starring on another reality series at the moment and if they ever did, it wouldn't follow every part of their life the way the Duggar family's old series did.
In her memoir, she reflected on originally learning that Counting On had been cancelled by TLC following the news of her oldest brother's 2021 arrest. After so many years of having the camera crew in her house, she said that it was a major adjustment to not have them around anymore.
"When the show was on break, and the crews didn’t come around for a few months, I missed the energy and excitement of interacting with all the creative people. The producers worked with my family to come up with ideas for episodes. It was fun to think of creative ways to give audiences a glimpse into our day-to-day lives," she said in the book.
Despite having mostly enjoyed her time on the series and originally missing having the camera crews and producers with her so often, it seems like Jinger Duggar has moved on from reality TV and is focused on her family and life as a social media personality now.
