Former Real Housewives of New York City star Bethenny Frankel has announced she is moving to Florida for “personal and professional reasons.”
“Something has arisen that made this the best and healthiest for myself and my daughter,” she explained in an Instagram video posted on Thursday 17th April. The former Shark Tank star shares Bryn, 14, with her former husband Jason Hoppy.
The longtime NYC inhabitant isn’t totally leaving The Big Apple behind, she will still “maintain residences in the Hamptons and New York City because we love New York.” In January 2024, Bethenny bought a 1,300-square-foot, two-bedroom, two-bathroom prewar pied-à-terre on the Upper West Side.
In an Instagram caption the media personality wrote how “excited,” she was to share her big move. “It’s been a concept for a while, but personal & private circumstances have made this the healthiest life choice.”
A source told Page Six that the move was entirely to support Brynn. “The move reflects Bryn’s academic and athletic goals and was made with her physical and emotional well-being front and center,” the insider told the outlet.
This big move was hinted at earlier this month when Bethenny teased some U-haul boxes in an Instagram round-up.
“Life is good albeit with some unexpected stressful surprises … Moments with good friends, food, laughs, and as always a little chaos,” she captioned the social media post.
Fans are wondering if this move is due to the former reality TV star’s blossoming relationship with boyfriend Tom Villante. She first posted a video of him on Instagram in November. They have frequently been seen getting cosy in Miami together.
She told Alix Earle, in an episode of her Hot Mess podcast, that she was dating but wanted to take things slowly. “I don’t know what it was like when you started dating and you were public. People think because you’re photographed with one person that you’re all of a sudden married again or engaged again.”
