It's official: Selling Sunset's cameras are back on the cast and season 9 is currently being filmed -- and Chelsea Lazkani is already getting shady about her co-stars. The show first premiered in 2019 and season 8 was made available for streaming on Netflix in September 2024 with a renewal for season 9 coming in November 2024.
Netflix isn't wasting any time with getting the new season out and star Chelsea Lazkani, who joined the show during season 5, is wasting no time getting a little shady with the other cast members.
On December 2, she posted on X (formerly Twitter) sharing how stressful it was filming with "some of those dusty woman [sic]" and the shade didn't stop there. She replied with a laughing emoji to someone asking if she wanted an assistant and with exclamation points to a fan encouraging her to take the shade offline and "call them dusty in their face."
She went on to poke fun at her on post with a joke about the first episode of season 9 being focused on the fact that she called the rest of the cast dusty, so it's obvious that the shade is all in good fun for Chelsea.
Considering how dramatic season 8 of Selling Sunset was for Chelsea Lazkani, it's no surprise that filming again probably is stressful and the fact that she's got some shade to throw at her co-stars isn't exactly shocking either.
Season 8 of Selling Sunset focused heavily on the fact that Chelsea Lazkani had filed for divorce from her husband, Jeff Lazkani, in March 2024. It's no secret that divorce isn't easy and adding the stress of being on a reality show can make such a difficult time in a person's life even harder, so the fact that Chelsea was going through a lot is an understatement.
But, things were made tougher on her during season 8 when Bre Tiesi found out that Jeff Lazkani was allegedly cheating on Chelsea, something that Chelsea Lazkani said she didn't want to be made public on TV.
Chelsea later went on to reveal via X (formerly Twitter) that she felt like Bre knew about the alleged cheating before she made it public on the show and that the scene during which her friend, Amanda Lynn, told her about it on the show was entirely fabricated by production for the show.
According to Chelsea's post, Bre wanted to bring Jeff's alleged cheating onto the show and used the phone call with Amanda in order to make it seem like she didn't already know that it was happening.
Chelsea spoke to Us Weekly and said that she didn't know how she "made it through" the dramatic season amid her divorce and such personal drama being brought to light by Bre, along with saying that if Amanda returned for season 9, Chelsea would be out of the show.
"If Amanda was on the show, I think I’ve made it emphatically clear that I absolutely would not step foot in front of those cameras again," she said of her plans to vacate the Netflix show if Amanda Lynn returned for season 9. Since she's back to filming with her "dusty" co-stars, it looks like she worked out a deal with Netflix and isn't worried about filming with Amanda again.
Netflix hasn't announced a premiere date for season 9 of Selling Sunset, but the first eight seasons are available for streaming on the platform now.
